Happy Mother’s Day!

Wishing a very Happy Mother’s Day to all of the women who we know and love. We especially want to highlight 2 of our Mother/Son Duos in the office! Read below to see all of the things Mitch Schiller and Logan Ormerod love about working alongside their moms.

How did you decide to go in to business with your mom?

Mitch: After bouncing through a couple of career paths, I decided to get my real estate license and move home. I was skeptical if I would even like real estate. My thought was if I didn't like it, I would at least be back in my hometown where I had roots and could find a new career path to begin. Luckily that wasn't the case, and I have loved every second of being a Realtor. Becoming a Realtor and teaming up with my mom has been one of the biggest blessings of my life.

Logan: I've always admired the way my mom built her business and knew I wanted to follow win her footsteps!

What is it like working with your mom? How do you balance personal and professional?

Mitch: Mom is someone I look up to in all aspects of life - as a realtor, a businesswoman, a person, a mother, and much more. I definitely still have my "stubborn son" moments and patience is key between both of us. We both operate in different ways but our end goal is always the same - putting our clients first and making sure they have the best experience when buying or selling. Balancing personal and professional is tough. We talk on the phone so much that it's sometimes a blur. Usually, mornings are more focused on business and as the day progresses our conversations expand too. It's very important that I have my coffee and a bit of food in me before our first call.

Logan: The good news is that Mom and I are best friends before business partners. Outside of business, we try and rarely talk about real estate (which is hard to do!) and enjoy ourselves.

In what way has your mom made you a better realtor?

Mitch: The funny thing about getting your Real Estate License is that it teaches you absolutely nothing about how to be a successful realtor. My mom has taught me everything I know. She has taught me that each transaction in real estate brings another opportunity to learn something and better yourself as a Realtor.

Logan: She's made me more confident and knowledgeable - and stylish, too!

What is your best advice for family members working together?

Mitch: Patience is key and just like when you were a kid - Mom and Dad are always right!

Logan: If you start to sense tension, take a break! Family always comes first.

A special note for your mom!

Mitch: Mom - Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for being not only the best mom that a son can ask for, but also the best colleague. You've done an incredible job raising me as a son, and a Realtor. I Love you.

Logan: Mom - I wouldn't be where I am today without you! You've taught me to always act professionally and be prepared, to have fun, and most importantly, to have impeccable taste! Cheers!
